It seems the progress has slowed due to a few folks who are against the new track. Their property is near the proposed site for the track. They have concerns that the track will introduce new sounds and smells that would impede the use and enjoyment of their own property.

What an exciting year it has been for local gear heads! As we head into the holiday season it unfortunately means are garaged treasures will un-willingly go into storage until spring. This year however we have a lot to look forward too for the 2012 show season. The construction of the NEW Mid America Raceway is FINALLY underway, and last I heard there was some exciting news about Gateway across the river. I can't speak for everyone that works on their ride, but I find myself rather depressed this time of year. Yes I love the holidays: friends, family, food it's all great but the thought of not being able to cruise the back roads with the windows down, roof rolled back, blasting some old school rock is like a fish surviving a week out of water for me.

In the meantime, having gone through this process a number of years now, I know I will spend the next few months "improving my ride". I remember a movie where one of my favorite lines is "some guys spend more time and money on their car in a week, and then they do on their wife and kids in a year". Currently don't have either, but I know I will be spending more time and effort on my ride over the winter months than is truly necessary. Then again why shouldn't I?

The new MidAmerica Raceway Park will be in Montgomery County, Missouri adjacent to the Montgomery County Speedway.

The MidAmerica Raceway track is still making progress. Contrary to what has been posted from various sources it has been confirmed by a member of the MAR Park group that the project is definitely not in a stalled state.
