The Inspiration

At a young age, Steve Martin's grandfather would tell stories of the old cars he had once owned. Among his favorites was his 1938 Cadillac LaSalle which sits in Steve's garage today. Most other stories would involve Model T Fords. The tales would be of his building cars from parts laying about his shop. He would call the finished autos "Shot Rods". Grandpa's stories are, in part, the reason Steve builds his rat rods. One rat he calls Shot Rod.
